The policy-makers in California all seem to be morons. They are intent on keeping every bit of brush intact, and then wonder why the wild fires in the summer cannot be stopped and burn a thousand homes. I did hear a story of one guy who cleared all the brush from around his home, and it was the only home left standing in the area after a fire. They wanted to fine him for clearing brush, but I never heard if they did. You'd think they'd be too embarrassed.
I'm pleased to report that the poweers-that-be in Washington state, who are usually as silly as those in Cal, have apparently come to their senses. Spending a lot of money now to clear and burn underbrush in the forests, to prevent wildfires. They're finally getting something right!
