Move the ground cable from the sheet metal directly to the engine block. Be sure to run a size 0 or 00 cable not an automotive cable. Then ground the engine to the sheet metal, this can be a smaller cable.
What's happening is the engine has lost it's ground, the body components are providing the ground. What's scary is the fuel line, oil pressure gauge line, temperature gauge tube, they are possibly part of the ground now. Not good!
