Back in 1948 my dad bought a new concrete mixer. It was powered by an IH hit and miss engine that had a big flywheel with a flip out handle to crank it. Also had a pipe mounted to put water into the drum. Someone admired the engine enough to steal it when the mixer was only a year old. We powered it with the pully and belt on the 9N Ford for several years after that. Dad always called it a "half bag" mixer because it would mix that much Portland cement in the batch, more than 2 wheelbarrows would hold. Over the years we powered it with whatever was available,either gasoline or electric.My nephew needed to pour footings when he excavated the crawl space under part of his house so I put an HF Predator engine on it Worked well. As we were mixing on Saturday I realized that I had done the same thing with the same mixer more than sixty years ago.Both the mixer and myself still work. It will probably outlast me.
