: I currently have the head off of my 1951 MT. I am : thinking of porting and polishing the ports. Is : it worth the time? How much actual power increase : is there? What tools will I need? I already have an : air die grinder. Thanks for any information. Joe The purpose of porting and polishing is to match the openings in your intake/exhaust manifolds to the openings in the head. Manufacturing tolerances can leave a wide discrepancy between what should be and what is. Polishing smooths the transition on intake/exhaust ports to the manifolds. An air flow bench is almost essential for proper setup. Porting and polishing benefits are more apparent over a wider RPM range than your tractor will allow. In otherwords: skip it.
