Well my 1996 2500 had about 200,000 miles and the tranny had been acting up off and on ? I sold the truck before I had to put more money in it than it was worth while it was still worth something. I do not think I'd buy a USED transmission. It may be going bad too. Many of the rebuild companies do "upgrades" so they should be better than original. I would check price with a Dodge dealer and see what they can offer.
