After a terribly dry winter, spring, and early summer I believe our drought here in central Kansas is finally over. Maybe a little TOO over. Since Friday night we've gotten just under 6 inches of rain in our area a half-hour drive north of Wichita. It's still coming down as I type this Monday evening and by the looks of the radar we're a long ways from being done. Due to the flat topography here we have water standing everywhere - a lot of fields look like lakes. Very little wheat has been sowed yet but in a normal year most folks would be finishing up about now. Wheat can usually do well here even if sowed in early November so there's still time provided we get a week or two of sunny weather to dry things out. If that doesn't happen things could get a little dicey, though.
