It will crank on Diesel, I did it accidently yesterday. Might be a different story with a fresh engine, the ones I have owned or operated were far from fresh. Pulling the plug when it is running is cool too but if the valve IS stuck open it will be a lot more obnoxious. If the valve is open it will spin that cylinder over real easy anyway. We had a TD-6 that would start on Diesel if you stalled it when it was good and hot.
