I either get an Interstate or a Napa battery and routinely get about 8 years out of mower batteries. I put one of those cheap Harbor Freight trickle chargers on there for about three days a couple of tones during the winter and that�s it. Sounds like you�re over-maintaining. I had one go bad and it cooked a brand new Interstate battery on my whole farm generator. I have too much conscience to exchange it - I bought another battery and the guys at my starter shop had a good laugh about the cooked specimen.
