Glaciers of our last North American Ice Age receded back to Canada around 11,700 years ago. Geologists think the sea level rose quite a bit during the melt off of glaciers at that time.There was another Ice Age way longer ago than that. From calculations in the Good book the Flood mentioned in it can be placed at roughly 2300 BC.(4318 years ago). So the Canyon has had lots of century's of erosion to form, 2 ice ages we know of and a flood recorded in the Good book.
