In that year range, many mfg changed the ring tension on the engine to use thinner oil, and improve fuel econ. Some engines like this one, and the Subaru 2.5L didn't get the right tension on the oil control and the rings begin to float in the bore. It is costly to fix. If the engine wasn't broke in right it will never ever have modest oil consumption, and within 30-80k miles, it will start high consumption as the bore glazes.
I would KNOW for sure what the oil consumption is on the engine, or keep shopping.
