Old, My sediment bowl has a standpipe. The Standpipe only works if I turn the on/off gas valve 2 turns. Then when I run out of gas, I can turn the on/off gas valve more turns and use the fuel on the bottom of the tank. That's the reserve gas.
I recall many old honda 305 had the same thing. Turn the valve one way used gas off the top of tank. Then turn valve another way to use reserve gas in tank.
