If you are getting dirty fuel, check the bottom of your fuel cans or pour fuel in a clean bucket to verify. You can also replace the strainer "sock" on the pump separately. Also check the vent line, make sure it is connected and filtered. I've see screens like that on Hydraulic tanks, diesel tanks and marine apps, maybe search internet for products/stores like that.
