Here is the answer that nobody else gave. The AGE of the battery is not as important as the CONDITION of eth battery - especially the STATE OF CHARGE. Any battery - new or old - can get run down from using and not recharging. Typically, when you just get clicking, it is because the battery is low on charge.
So, my recommendation is to first check the state of charge of the battery. If it is fully charged, then start doing diagnosis.
