When you try to start it, do the dash lights or head lights or any other accessories go off?
If so, there is probably a bad connection at one of the battery cables or ground connection. It may be hidden under the insulation where the end attaches to the cable.
If there is a major "clunk" at the starter solenoid, and the lights stay on bright, like Dieseltech said, could be the solenoid contacts.
If there is a major clunk, and the battery cables jump and get hot, it may be stuck.
If the click is somewhere other than the solenoid, could be an electrical problem, neutral switch, mouse chewed wire, ignition switch...
