The Brookings institution is not exactly unbiased, as a matter of fact they are never trumpers transformed into trump derangement syndrome dog whistlers, but all of that aside, the numbers they quote are for 2016, don�t match Canada�s own official numbers and the majority of US exports for that year were not quota products and not subject to tariff to begin with. 2017 export numbers were much lower because the main export in the prior few years was a product called ultra filtered milk protein which was not on the original agreement and therefore not subject to tariffs. The Canadians have begun to produce the product in volume themselves and the demand went down, the basic claim of an avaerage 270% tariff on US dairy products is for all intents and purposes, correct, but in reality there would be little demand for conventional US dairy products in Canada anyway.
