Well first off I too am a Vietnam era veteran. As to comparing it no I am not doing that what I am doing it using examples which are 2 different things.
All I am saying is you cannot put any thing into a one size fits all box. And the fact that when i got out of the Navy while I did not go to Vietnam I could not tell people when I got out that I had ben in the military or it would get me spit at or cussed at and some would not even hire a Veteran of that time. MY older brother was also in the Navy during Vietnam and was murdered in Ok for helping a woman. It is not the thing or animal it is how it is used or taught or raised. Just like if you raise a child badly it will go bad for them and or you and even then one never knows what twill make something snap. Known more then one Vietnam veteran who if they heard a gun go off or other such thing do some odd things.
