We had a game warden years ago, that would put a mean dog down in front of the family that owned it if necessary. Knowing what it's like to have a canine tear ones flesh, more than once... there will be no hesitation in doing what needs to be done is my rationale. Just think what it feels like to have one sink a tooth into your upper lip and tear right through it, or clamp onto the inside of your leg and try to take a big chunk out.
I really and thoroughly enjoyed the satisfaction of being witness to this game warden doing putting down a neighbors dog who tried to attack me daily while going out on a run for training. He went after a young mother with an infant in a stroller once, that was the big mistake, the final mistake is when he went after the game warden. He drew on him and shut him up for good. He killed all the pups and the other mangy mutt and left them one pup. He clearly told them, if he turns out like the others I will be back.
That rotten shepherd was after me daily, I had to carry a big knife to stick him if he got to me and sooner or later he was going to. Every day, anyone passing by had to be terrorized by this dog. Payback was real ugly, but you as the owner deserve that at minimum for harboring a mean, rotten, worthless, vicious ANIMAL.
