The engine failure was determined to be his fault and the claim of engine failure was his and his mates, the investigation determined it was pilot error due to lack 9f attention and the engine was under power when he hit the water, altho the power level was too low. And there are claims from people on the ship that he was the cause of that fire, altho the navy says he didn't do it. But I'm sceptical of that since his father was a high ranking officer and it wouldn't be the first time the military protected someone.
