About 15 years ago I cut some hay on a field I haven't cut over before, it was hot and dry.
I layed it off late one afternoon making about 3 rounds before dark, the next day as I mowed around the field and heard my drum mower make a couple of light rock strikes but didn't give it much thought.
When I turned at the end of the field I could see smoke about half way across the field.
Sparks from a rock strike had set the hay I'd cut the evening before on fire, luckily we were able to put it out before it got to big.
First time I'd ever set a field of hay on fire with a mower.
