Is tha ta gravity flow system as for fuel. If yes pull the carb drain plug the moment it acts up and make sure you have a good steady flow of gas that will fill a pint jar in less then 3 minutes. You might also pull the gas cap off and se if it run well with the cap off. If it does the cap vent is clogged and pulling a vacuum in the tank which slows gas flow
