Actually, there are no 'A' batteries either, I suppose A and B got replaced by AAA and AA as batteries got better at storing energy?
Really don't use a C much any more and D is getting rarer to use also, as the led bulbs have taken over and electronics get more energy sipping on the battery powered items.
Of late I see oddball batteries used more than the common ones, high output in odd sizes, for the big draw items. I try to avoid that, as you know where the cost and availability of specialty batteries will go....
