They have bulkhead fittings that are just for you application. I used a wire to guid the fitting down into the hole than put the nut on the outside. I could hold the fitting from the center to get the nut started. Then just screw in a hoe barb. For the top a wire with a knot like end would work to pull that fitting in then start the nut again on the outside. The fittings should have a gasket with them to seal. I used a wire long enough to reach the top of the tank to slide the fitting on. The wire also went out the hole on the tank.
