Leroy may have some of the issue. I know the rider on my truck/trailer policy to haul for other people as a business costs $2500 just for that each year. Same as the full size semi. The other reason is there is not much money in hauling this type of stuff for individuals. Many think that you can haul stuff for a buck a mile. You need more than that. I get $1.75 a running mile or $3.50 a loaded mile. Little less for long trips but not much.
