Seriously Massey, you're setting yourself up for failure. I would save all the time and money and just make myself remember to turn the key off. Sort of like when you leave your house and lock the door, or hang up the phone after a phone call. Or remembering where you park after going into Home Depot. If you use your light system, you will always be looking to see what the light is telling you. What if you forget to look for the light? Then you're back where you started. You are going to end up with a Rube Goldberg system ..... see below.
