My very first dealing with welding an gas tank was back when I was 10-12. Old man I worked for had a car exhaust hooked to a tank. He sat me in the office and had a phone number written down. He said if I heard a big boom to call that number and DO NOT leave the office. He welded the tank up and came back in about 10 minutes later. He told me good job and gave me an ice cream bar. I've welded a number of tanks over the years and one of the best way to do it is fill the tank up as full as it can be fill and then weld. Full tank means no fumes to burn. But either way if you have a place close that does it I'd take it to them just because. But also at my age I have learned to not do many of the crazy things I did when I was younger
