Thanks for the reply. The coil is not original. There are no lights on the machine. I will check the starter and generator for the tags. They look to be the originals. I have an operators manual that appears to cover all the years manufactured. In that manual there is no reference to the voltage of the battery. The only reference I seen in the manual was a schematic of the electrical system and it showed a positive ground. We have had the engine running on a 12 volt battery a number of times. I had the engine running about 6 weeks ago and it started fine. About two weeks ago I tried to start it and I had no luck. I am getting gas to the carb, but it just will not fire. I checked the coil and it meets the ohm readings that are suggested for the primary and secondary readings (per my online inquiries). I have checked the coil cable and there appears to be an electrical flow through it. I am trying to methodically eliminate potential problems.
