I would like to tell a story of what he said about GM transmissions. I use to read his posts and learned a few things. Well i passed on some knowledge i learned from him to a young guy i am working with for the summer. He has a late 80's or early 90's pickup. He came to work one morning and said it shakes and vibrates. Just put new tires on it. He checked the lug nuts and they were tight. He described the problem to me. He said it not only shakes but doesnt shift right in to 3rd gear. I immediately remembered what i read from reading Allen in neb's posts about transmissions. He said that he got people referring trans problems to him needing rebuilt with this symptom and all it is is a plugged fuel filter. It is starving for fuel so you push down on the accelerator more and the throttle position sensor gives all kinds of false information to the computer and the trans wont shift right. I told this kid my story about Allen on the forums and he listened. His shop didnt know what was wrong with the truck. The fuel filter fixed it. 2 happy people. Him for a cheap fix, and me for passing on Allens great knowledge. Thanks Allen if you are still on here.

Today's Featured Article - Product Review: Lead Substitutes - by Mike Schordine. Lead was oriinally added to gasoline as an upper cylinder lubricant. It lubes the valves and seats. If you rebuild the motor, you could use hardened seats and valves, and unleaded fuel. But if your old tractor runs good, a simple lead substitute added to the gas is a perfectly reasonable solution. And, if you are like me, your tractor is under cover, but it sits outside. So with every temperature change, the humidity in the air collects in the fuel tank, in the form of water.
