Liquid fence from TSC, it works well. While it says to coat the plant, it seems that just dousing the area, nearby tree trunks, low branches, the grass etc. deters them from coming into the area. Plants with no fruit on them yet, young sweet corn, I coat the plants, as well as the surrounding area. I just try not to coat anything I would mistakenly eat without taking inside to wash :) ! When applied regularly, it will pattern them away from the area, but do not trust that for too long, they will certainly be back and or testing the area, more so when it gets hot and dry, they want the well kept plants we have in our gardens. For anything in the open, it works well, just remember to re-apply after a rain. Once patterned away, you may have a buffer to re-apply if you forget, but they will be back and it's best to re-apply on time.
