I am thinking your talking about the starter relay KIT that you put by the starter to make sure and get a full 12 volts to the starter solenoid. Little square relay with five spades on the bottom??? IF you look on the side of the relay it shows how it works.
Your going to have one wire going to the terminal on the starter solenoid that the battery cable hooks to. This is your 12 volt power supply. One wire is a ground. One the engage/energize wire will get hooked to the factory wire that energized the starter solenoid or went to the start terminal. then you will hook the output wire to the starter solenoid start terminal.
I do not have the wire colors near by. I can look them up tomorrow if no one else posts with them. What this kit does it takes the tractor wiring harness out of the starting circuit as far as the voltage it supplies. With age the tractor harness gets resistance in it from the various safety switches and connections. So you can end up with low voltage at the starter solenoid. This can cause the starter to hammer when the solenoid does not fully engage.
