Can't speak for Old560, but I agree with what you're saying. We live in a very remote location; one where mankind is still the outsider. However, there's some sheet steel that the coons go across and they don't know to be quiet. Can usually tell when it's a coon or the cat,but not always.
A neighbor down the road likes to feed them. When he gets too many, they'll sometimes come the 3 miles to our place and scope it out here.
