I had two tractors that had char-lynn units in them. They both started leaking badly, so I tried to put new O-rings in one of them. I made small file marks on the outside so I would not lose orientation. I had a bunch of different sized O-rings. Took it apart changed out the O-rings and put it back together. I did not get it back together correctly and it would not work correctly. The other tractor I just removed the unit from the steering shaft and replaced with the correct size steel rod. I had checked with a hydraulic shop previous to taking mine apart, they wanted nearly as much as a new one from Stieners to rebuild. That's why I attempted myself. Neither tractor has power steering now and I don't plan on adding it back. I don't know where I went wrong and will never find out. Sometimes this old dog just can't seem to learn a new trick.
