I'm running 160 Cedars around my house and surrounding area. Reason is N wind in the winter and used to be a dusty road....thank goodness the EPA and county commissioners saw eye to eye and we got it topped with 2 layers of tar and rocks...like the highway dept does every 5ish years on the state roads. I live on the N side of the highest ground around here and there's nothing between me and the N pole but a strand or two of barbed wire....... guarantee you they are worth the effort for wind protection in the winter.
I tried Cedar posts too when first fencing around here. Got them cheap. Lasted 7 years in black clay. Can't tell you the type.
On mine I thought about somebody wanting to make a living selling them. Wayyyyyy to labor intensive getting all the limbs off.
