The old root cellar had some buckets,,and canning jars that renters had left in there.my daughter and i cleaned it all out.You open these doors and walk down stairs to get into the root cellar its very old,,I repaired and plastred it about 25 years years ago.It could uses a washing down and a coat of white thoro seal paint,,but the repair job did hold up well,there are no cracks at all. that is the original slate floor,,layed in dirt, Notice the built in cubby holes,,they are original,,and the rusted hook from the ceiling is original too.I did not plaster it smooth,because the parts of the original plaster that ws remaining when I did it was not smooth,,I wanted it to look original as possible.
