the shifter linkage got messed and you need to realign the shift bars (rails)in the trans
Take out the shifter. You'll need to remove a pin where it connects to the trans. Been a while since I did one and i installed installed a bolt in place of the pin as it was easer to remove
With a big screwdriver or the shifter it's self you have to move all the rails into neutral and that will free up the trans and then reinstall the shifter. Be careful that the rail notches are all longed up and in neutral and the shifter moves between the rails
