I had the catalytic converter replaced today on my 96 Dodge 3500 tractor hauler pickup. I knew the old cats have some value, so I told the shop counter guy I wanted my old one. He said it had blown the insides out, and not worth anything anymore. Is that possible? Probably not talking much money, but I would have added it to my other scrap. Even though it passed the smog test the previous day, is it possible it passed the test with no internals in the Cat. Anyway I now have a Cat with the correct numbers for my 8.0 Dodge I hope the state is happy now. All the after noon mowing was a wash, as all the money went towards the New Cat. Another hour mowing it will be paid off. Stan
