So, you figure that some third party outfit is smarter than $50,000,000 worth of engineering talent?
Something to think about... Every manufacturer has to please THREE groups of people to get a vehicle to market. First, it has to pass muster with the EPA. Emissions have to comply with current standards for the model year. Next comes CARB. They also have to satisfy economy standards in place for the type of vehicle and the model year. Then, after all of that, they have to please the customer. Does the performance measure up to the competition? Do they meet stated specifications? Have they met their production goals?
So, after all of that, a couple of kids in a garage come along and think that they can make it go faster. Or get better fuel mileage. Or make a little extra torque. Fine. In doing that, they also upset the other factors like emissions and fuel economy in particular. Yep, they sure are smarter than the folks that designed and built that vehicle. NOT!!!
If you wanted more power, you should have bought that in the first place. Same goes for fuel mileage and speed performance.
What you have done is most likely not illegal, but the manufacturer would not have been able to market that vehicle as it stands now. It most likely would not have met all of the standards that it was put up against. But, since it is your truck, you can do as you please with it. So much for cleaner air.
