As far as I know, the MS is referring to oil composition, ISO is viscosity. Two entirely different categories.
When selecting hydraulic oil, look for terminology like "mineral oil" or "RO" oil. These are for the earlier tractors with yellow metal (brass, bronze)components. Engine oil can be substituted in these applications, just check the viscosity carefully, as different products use different ratings.
Others want "AW" oil, which has anti wear additives needed for extreme pressure requirements. These AW additives supposedly attack yellow metals, and should not be used if there are yellow metals, like bushings, or gears.
And then there are different requirements for applications with wet clutches and brakes.
I didn't find much about MS other than this article. It sounds good, but could be just someones opinion, so take it for what it is...
