The VW Passat is a good car. We are on our 2nd one. The first we had for 11 years and only got rid if it after a Suburban rear ended us and took off. Friend liked our newer so well he bought one. Get the 1.8T engine. We averaged 37mpg on a trip to Colorado going up and above Estes Park and back to Kansas City MO. That MPG included hwy (70 to 75mph), city and mountain driving all during July running the AC.
