I am kind of surprised the Fusion is being cut - I thought it sold fairly well. I knew the Taurus was on its way out.
We just bought a 2017 Chevy Impala. I drove it across Kansas and Oklahoma on Monday and Tuesday (over 1200 miles before I was done). Drove through several cities and then drove it like I stole it on the highways. That big cow averaged 29 MPG for the entire trip. Our best 2WD pickups get about 17-18 MPG (worst 14-15 MPG). If the Impala keeps it up it will cost us about $13,293 to drive it 150K - we have a 2012 with 140K and there are no plans to remove it from the fleet at this time. Same miles in a pickup is $21,416 in gas - the car saves us $8,123 in gas alone - tires are about 2/3s the price and repairs are probably about equal. The car is loaded and the pickups we buy are usually fairly base model and run about $10,000 more at purchase time. Buying a car and driving it 150K as apposed to a pickup is a savings of over $18,000 before a single tire, insurance or repair is made. You might get some of it back at sale time ($2000 or maybe $3000) but you'll wipe that out if you take it to 200K miles.

I have been restoring old Farm Tractors for the past 6 years, and have found it easier and less expensive to hit all the auctions and purchase whole tractors for parts needed. My wife who works at a local school, and only has weekends and summers off, while on t
