Mud cost me a calf last night, looks like the cow had the calf on some hay on the feed pad, but the little thing got off the pad in a tire rut and drown.
I'll be increasing the size of the pad this year and rework the new entrance, we had redone part of the fence and relocated the gate but didn't get any fabric or stone down leading to the feed pad.
Have several pretty deep ruts leading to the pad and around the edges from getting off the sides of the pad.
Muddiest spring I've seen in years, over 5 inches of rain in the last two weeks, we've had a light drizzle to moderate rain for the last two days straight.
Weather station said we where 7" above normal for this time of the year with more rain in the forecast.
