The simple electrical components do not care which way they are connected IF the generator is polarized when it is installed that way. If the system is charging the battery it will be OK. The voltage at 2/3 throttle needs to be about 7 to 7.3 volts. if the amp meter is reading charge to the right side of the gauge, the amp gauge has been wired to read correctly the way it is. The ignition coil (if it is not a mag ignition) should be connected with its Neg terminal connected to the distributor, and the Positive to the ignition switch. Jim
