Most guys I knew who had 560D tractors eventually went with 1 12 volt battery. Most just tossed in whatever was handy at the time.
The best advice you were given is:
1) trouble shoot the system to make sure it's a battery problem. The 560D was a cold natured thing. Most of the ones I've been around had to have the glow plugs activated if the tractor was shut off more than about 15 minutes. SO if the charging system isn't up to the task you will have no start issues.
2) if you do go to 12 volt go with the biggest best battery you can get in there.
3) if the charging system isn't working properly IMO the best way to fix it is to convert to an alternator. I like the 3 wire hook up but lots of folks go with a one wire alternator. Either will work. The wiring harness on the 560D is pretty simple so going through and repairing if needed isn't bad.
