I bought a solar panel in a "solar farm" that the utility has at the local landfill. I own the panel and get a credit on my bill. I get about a $4/month credit and at that rate, it will take about 17 years for it to pay for itself. I knew it would be a lousy deal, but it has actually saved me a lot of money. I bought it to prove to my wife why we're not going to spend a lot more money to put solar panels on the barn.
