There are very few warranty requirements for a used vehicle.
In Texas, every vehicle sold by a registered dealer (as opposed to an individual, even if that individual flies under the radar with small quantities of inventory) is required to display a window sticker, "warranty", or "sold as is".
The warranty is what would be carried over from the manufacturer, and would only apply to late model, low mileage vehicles.
The "as is" applies to everything out of factory warranty. There are exceptions, the feds require longer warranty on emissions related issues, but that still goes back to manufacturer, not the reseller.
Beyond that, it is totally up to the policy of the car lot as to what they choose to cover.
About the only thing they can not do is attempt to defraud people with altered odometers, or falsify title information by selling "salvage" vehicles with a clean title.
