That is based on the assumption that the courthouse shooter does not want to shoot the deputy, he wants to shoot a judge or a prosecutor, located much further into the building. If you had been intent on just getting into the building you likely could have ambushed the deputy while he was talking and joking with old friends, using your hidden gun, from on your side of the metal detector, then ran through and started random shooting......random shooting....just what a school shooter does.
TSA is to prevent guns on planes, but a random shooter could shoot the TSA inspectors from outside the detectors.
But, we should not in anyway discuss the obvious flaws in the logic of this armed teacher and metal detector solution.
