I at one time argued that the movies, TV and video games were not hurting anything. That is was just a fun distraction from day to day life. I have slowly changed my mind and believe we have raised a generation that has a large number of people who are so desensitized to violence and how it is used to solve even minor disputes that they simply turn to violence. Not that my generation did not get violent as well. We had our share of bloody noses and black eye's but not one school shooting. We had the guns and the ammunition right there at school in many cases in the back window of our trucks. I have to believe we have raised a very hardened violence accepting generation. We also glorify it by talking none stop for days at every turn of events. We have schooled these people in the fine art of mass killings on just about every thing they see and read about.

I also never thought a ban on any gun was a good thing to do but have slowly changed my thoughts some what on that as well. I see no need for a fully automatic gun of any kind. This bump stock thing should have never seen the light of day, it simply goes around the law. Large capacity clips are a hard sell for me also. If hunting and you do not have it down in 6 to 8 shots 30 is not going to help. If target shooting get 6 to 10 extra smaller clips so you can keep shooting with a few second break to change clips.

We send our kids off to school to learn and much of the process has to do with repeating over and over again until we learn. We have videos that are used as teaching tools and they work. So haw can we defend letting a 6-18 year old watch nothing but violence, drugs and alcohol and think it won't have an influence on them. Most people will ignore this and that's ok I had it to say and did.

Today's Featured Article - Show Coverage: Godfrey, Illinois Country Days - by Cindy Ladage. Except for last fourth of July's Old Gold show in Springfield, Illinois, I don't remember when it was so hot. Nevertheless, the heat didn't keep vendors and visitors alike from enjoying the third annual Country Day's Event. Jane Elliott said the event was originally a one man show. "Barry Seiler, owner of Country Town Farm Supply store used to invite people up to the Johne Deere store. He would give hats and a free meal for everyone that brings a tractor." Elliott said while this ... [Read Article]
