If it is plastic then get the epoxy that they used to repair plastic bumpers. Then repair it on the inside. I usually "V" the crack a little in the back side. Apply the epoxy and put fiber glass mess into that layer of epoxy and then put more epoxy over the mesh. Smooth the epoxy out while working it into the mesh. The hood will still show the crack on the out side but it will stop it. Most of the time the crack will be closed to where you really can not see it.
Fiberglass repair kits are not the correct thing to use. They will not stick correctly.
