You're right I put in right many deer plots for myself and custom plant them too.In my area they are usually small plots in or near woods near bedding areas rarely over an acre designed to bring in some does and large bucks. On a plot that size I have a couple large garden tractors I use to pull a small broadcast spreader that'll hold about 100 lbs of fertilizer.I mix the seed with the fertilizer and broadcast it.Usually get a good stand will always run a cultipacker over the plot and sometimes lightly disk after planting depending on what's planted.Almost always get a good stand. On large plots I rent a pull behind fertilizer buggy and the guy will mix the fertilizer,some lime and the seed together basically the same deal as with the smaller plots.Planters on typical roughed up plots don't work very well anyway.
