Hi Larry
Thats a nice investment you got given, I collect those Britains toys and other brands of farm and construction models and have several of those in box or that need restoring, I have the later Britains Majors as well. There are 4 versions total of those. 2 with rubber tires and 2 with spade lugs. Thats the early one with the lead steering column, the other newer ones has a wire steering column instead of the lead one that snapped off easily.
They are very hard to find in this condition in the U.K unless you find them on ebay in the U.S or Canada Boxed and complete that might make $250 or so on ebay, so don't loose or damage it by accident . Lots of them are pretty beat up have tires that are messed up, fenders bent, hitches ,axles snapped and muffler and air cleaner missing to. The man is a thing that vanishes to from boxed ones.
Lots of beat up ones and are really only worth $20 but guys can buy repro parts from the U.K for a few $ and fix them up cheaper than buying a nice one if they want to,so will usually pay over the odds for junk. Mine that need restoring all came cheap but I sat up bidding on them here in Canada while the rest of the world was sleeping L.O.L.

As with many things there are often several right answers and a few wrong ones. Some purist I'm sure will disagree to no end with what I will tell you but most of us out here in the real world don't really care do we ? Some of them only bring their noses down out of the air long enough to look down them anyway. If you are like me you are only doing this old tractor stuff because you enjoy it. You
