The silver thing is my "Limb Dog" It holds limb wood up at waist height so I can block them up without bending over and running the saw tip into the dirt. It will accept up to 8" rounds. The silver lever is built as an eccentric so you just slide the end of a limb in the throat and it locks it down for blocking. When blocked, just pull the handle forward and the last block releases. Bailies has a couple of commercially, built ones. One is free standing, and the other fits into a receiver on a tractor or PU. one of those has to be adjusted for different sized limbs. I figured that if I bent a pipe into an eccentric, it would be a one size fits all, and I can easily slide limbs into the mouth even if you can't reach the handle.
